Good question! You’re right, it is very hard to find information on on how much vaginal discharge is actually normal which is why I plan to make more information about vaginal discharge available to young girls.
You may have noticed that your vaginal discharge changes in both colour and texture depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle.
For example, when you are about 2 weeks away from your period, you may have noticed that your vaginal discharge is jelly-like or watery. Sometimes you can feel the watery discharge come out much like when you can feel your period. Vaginal discharge can even make your panties feel wet.
Pantyliners can be worn to absorb vaginal discharge so you can feel more fresh. Like pads, they come in different absorbencies from light to heavy – just like the kind you mentioned.
So is it normal to have so much vaginal discharge that you need to wear a heavy absorbency pantyliner? The answer is yes! It’s one of the reasons many women choose to wear heavy absorbency panty liners.
If your vaginal discharge very heavy and it concerns you, I would suggest you see your doctor so s/he can check it out. Most likely, it will be okay and considered normal but it never hurts to ask your doctor too as every case is different.
However if you notice anything off about your discharge when it comes to the color, texture, or even smell – you should see your doctor. It could be a sign of infection and can usually be treated easily.
I hope that helps Ceilia!
