BANANAS!

Did you know eating bananas can help reduce menstrual cramps? Skip the midol and pack a banana instead!

Menstrual cramps can occur when your muscles are trying really hard to push your period out and can occur a couple days before your period and anytime during your period. These cramps can cause slight discomfort to fetal position inducing pain!

Bananas are a natural super food packed with potassium and magnesium which can help reduce cramps and reduce water retention. Eating a medium banana packs about 46 milligrams of magnesium and 450 milligrams of potassium which is both about twenty per cent of our daily required intake. In addition, bananas contain vitaminB6 which is great for keeping your skin young and healthy. This is great news for us cramping and bloated ladies haha.

So why are potassium and magnesium good for cramps? Both potassium and magnesium are natural minerals used by our bodies in the electrical exchanges in our nerves and muscles and eating foods with high potassium like bananas can help reduce menstrual cramps.

Although there are many other foods that have even more potassium, bananas are truly the only food that's naturally portable and requires no preparation at all. This makes bananas the perfect snack to reduce your menstrual cramps!

Have you tried eating bananas to help with your cramps?

These Adira Period Panties are your period's best friend. Protecting you from leaks and stains and keeping you confident in a leakproof period!

Adira Period Panties are just like regular panties except they have contain extra leakproof layers to prevent leaks and stains on bedsheets and clothes. The fabric is 100% cotton and the leakproof layer is breathable and sandwiched inbetween two layers of fabric in the front, back and crotch area.

Adira

The crotch area has an extra built in pantiliner for that extra bit of protection where you need it most and doubles as a place to stick your pad (more on this later). It's also made of cotton fabric so it actually doesn't' feel like you're wearing an extra liner; it feels just like regular panties.

The Period Blog Diaries: The one where my crush puked on me

Before we get into this story, I just want to say that this is a REAL period story sent in from a reader and it does take a lot of guts to share an embarassing story so I want to thank her and everyone so far that has shared a story with us!

This is all I want to do when I have my period.

From our reader B:
It all started in my 8 grade year of middle school. I was 14 years old, and practically the only one who DIDN'T get my period.

So, we were doing this play we had for cinco de mayo, and we were at the part where me and this guy I really, really, REALLY liked had the solo. A few counts before we had our solo, I felt something slip through, and my pants felt slimy. I thought nothing of it, because recently this white stuff was constantly in my underwear, so i figured it was nothing to be worried about.

I skipped up to the front with him, and he got this really gross expression on his face, and his face was loosing all the color, he looked like he was gonna hurl. So i was like 'Whats his problem????' And we were at the part where he dipped me, so he dipped me, and when he dipped me, he looked straight into my eyes, and I thought he was going to kiss me, so I closed me eyes, and leaned in.

"I sat up, and threw up across the cafeteria, and as I stood up,  I noticed a pool of blood."
