It's not my only bad story, but I still remember it as horrible.
I had gotten cramps in the evening (I get them hours before I start), so I was all ready to begin natures torture, but nothing happened and the pain faded. That next day still no signs of the curse, so I didn't think much of it and went to get my hair done by my sister. I was getting color, a cut and styling which can take up to 3 hours in a chair.
While she was cutting, I began to feel those pains again, but didn't want to say anything (I've always been super embarrassed). An hour past, the pain was bad and I started to feel something downtown. I finally asked to go to the bathroom....
Thank the Lord I was wearing black jeans! My panties were soaked through, as were my pants, and that horrible smell was obvious.
I made do with a make shift pad from toilet paper and didn't say a word as I got my hair finished. After my sister decided to go out to get food and inside the place I know people noticed, and I could have died on the spot, if not from the insane amount of pain I was feeling.
It definitely wasn't the only time a surprise attack had been launched, during a music event when I was 12, I got my period suddenly and that time my jeans weren't black, and were just as soaked.
I gotta say, there are few things as embarrassing as knowing people know, and few things as wonderful as getting cleaned up and curling into a ball after.

In the middle of summer, I started to have really really heavy period and it lasted for over a month and I'm not even kidding. I used over 5 overnight pads a day. My mom and I really started to worry and so she brought me to a doctor and as it turns out, I have hormonal imbalance. The doctor said that I lacked progesterone and I would have to take a few meds to regulate my cycle but she told me not to worry because it was apparently very common to teens (I'm 15).
But that wasn't what worried me the most. It was the fact that school would be starting in a few weeks and with my condition, there was a very high possibility that I'd leak.
The first week of school was horrible, I leaked more than once while wearing a tampon (for heavy flow) and also an overnight pad but it wasn't till a few weeks after did I have the most embarrassing period experience.
It was lunch time and I was sitting with my friends in our usual table when I felt a lot of blood spill. My best friend noted the look of horror on my face and asked if I needed to change. I nodded but as I got up, she quickly yanked me back down. She told me that I had a huge stain and not only that but I also stained the white bench that we were sitting on!
I completely panicked and I didn't know what to do but luckily my friends were so understanding that they helped me cover. One of my friends purposely spilled her drink on me (and the bench) and my other friends played along so that everyone else would think that it was just juice on my pants and the bench. After that they helped cover me as I went to change in the bathroom. I really don't know what I would have done without them.

One time at SCHOOL, I was in a hurry to change my tampon. Note that boys and girls have to SHARE a bathroom at my school.
Then my teacher banged on the door to hurry up. I went out washed my hands and sat down. Then a boy went to the bathroom when he came out he said to me hey you left a TAMPON in the bathroom. then EVERYONE was going in the bathroom to look at it!

A couple of days ago I felt a really bad back ache coming on... and hoped that my period wasn't coming because my sister and I were going shopping 2 hours away. But nope! I woke up to extremely bad back ache. This has happened before and I layed helpless on my bed for the 2 days!
A couple of days ago I felt a really bad back ache coming on... and hoped that my period wasn't coming because my sister and I were going shopping 2 hours away. But nope! I woke up to extremely bad back ache. This has happened before and I layed helpless on my bed for the 2 days!
I was also having an extremely heavy period, and I mean EXTREME. So me, not bringing a bag or anything just stuffed a pad and a couple of tampons in my shorts pocket and off we went. During the trip I had a pillow supporting my back from discomfort, and took some pain relief medicine which overall didn't really help, only soothing the pain slightly.
When we arrived I demanded to go to the pharmacy to buy some heat packs to stick on my back otherwise we were turning around and going home. I was literally limping with an arched back like an old lady for a while before the heat activated and it started to help my back straighten up.
During the hours we were shopping I changed my pad and tampon, but in the end ran out of them before we made our last trip home. I decided that the pad wasn't that full so I wouldn't have to worry.
When I returned to the car my sister motioned with her hand to lean into the car, so I complied. She told me that I might want to go inside and change. I looked at the seat.
Blood. Blood on the seat, blood on my pillow. I must've looked really embarrassed because I didn't say a word and just walked quickly but not suspiciously into the house before any neighbours saw me.
There was a patch of blood the size of a tennis ball. I ran into my bedroom and quickly got changed and just sat on the floor speechless, embarrassed and waiting for what my sister would say. She came to my door, asked for my shorts and told me that I should've told her. I lied to her and said I didn't know, and she said that it happens to all girls blah blah blah.
I was kind of relieved but it was awkward after that when she told me that the stain had come out. When all this happened I was considering birth control because of this embarrassing moment and the extremely bad back aches and my heavy flow. So anyways, I still can't believe happened and I didn't want to bring it up again, but here it is :)

I just wanted to say thank you so much! You have no idea how much this blog has helped me. It answers all the questions I would feel too awkward asking myself. You, my friend, deserve a cookie for all the hard work and effort you've put into this :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, fine. Two cookies?
Aww thank you for reading! I'm so glad you found my blog helpful!!!
DeleteSorry if this has been answered before, but I can't find it. When you're showering while on your period, what is the best way to clean "down there"?
ReplyDeleteJust make sure you clean the folds of your inner and outer lips! Sometimes discharge settles into those areas. Aside from that.. just use soap :)! I suppose I could do a guide on this :)
DeleteOkay I have a really stupid question but I honestly don't know. How do you put a pad in your underwear correctly? I hear people talking about "wings" in pads... What are they and what are they for? Do all pads have them? I don't think mine do...
ReplyDeleteStick the pad onto the crotch part of your panties, and fold the wings under the crotch part of your panties :).
DeleteYour blog is so handy I hate asking my mum or sister it just makes me feel so awkward so thank u
ReplyDeleteOk so i feel so awkward asking this but i think there is something wrong with my period. I had just put a tampon in and went swimming for 30 min. Im possitive I put it in right for this was not even close to the first time using it. After I got out of the hot tub. I walked to the locker room. While walking back, I was leaving little puddles of blood footprints. I was mortified, but luckily no one was there but my aunt and a couple of other people. I don't know how this happened or how to fix it!?!?!!??!?!? Please help me!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you are on your period you should never go swimming. If someone like you girl-friends invite you or someone that is a girl that you are close to just say that it's that time of the month, but,if a bot invites just say you can't go because it's a girl thing or lie.If your crush invites you to go swimming just say I'd love to go another time.
